Applying for a horse to be taken into our rehoming programme is very easy - just get in touch - and we can talk you through the process in detail but below we set out the basic requirements.

For horses to enter the “Rehoming Racehorses – A Life After Racing” Scheme the following applies:

1) Horses are signed into our ownership, the effective date of same being when a horse arrives at our yard.

2) By signing this Agreement an owner is giving up all interest in the horse so will not be involved in any aspect of its future.  
Hpwever we will provide updates as to a horse's health and well-being if so requested.

3) Vaccinations must be up-to-date and a strangles test carried out pre-arrival. The owner to bear any costs.  

4) We are to be provided with any veterinary reports or you will give your consent for us to approach the veterinary clinic under whose care the horse fell whilst in your ownership.

5)  Details of vices and adverse behaviours should be provided

6) The Donor is responsible for the transportation of the horse to our premises

7) The Donor must make a donation to our rehoming programme.  
Donated monies are not associated with any particular horse but are pooled and directed towards the costs of management, retraining prior to rehoming and the on-going costs associated with ensuring a horse's continued welfare and well-being throughout its life-time. such as home-checks, return of a horse to us should circumstances change and so on. Hence any donated sum is not refundable in whole or in part at any time.

8)  We are not permitted to provide the contact details of the person who subsequently rehomes a horse due to data protection regulations.  

9) The rehomer is under no obligation to have any contact with former connections of the horse they rehome hence we provide updates as stated at (2) above.  

However it is appreciated that some owners may like the opportunity at some point to visit their former charge. In such case you should expressly state this to us so that a clause can be incorporated into the Agreement with the rehomer.  If it is not so stated at the time [ideally in writing] of an owner relinquishing ownership to ourselves, a rehomer will be under absolutely no obligation to accommodate a visit.   

10) We will take in horses which can only be companion horses but our intake capacity for such horses is limited due to the shortage of people seeking thoroughbreds as companion horses
